have u visited dreadlockssite? its the only 1 u can trust and we cover all hair types (true theres not many africans in the slideshow only cause most have come to us with severely unhealthy salon dreads)
going natural is the best way seperate to prevent congos
just pull them apart as dreads try to combine or form too thick

Hi I’m looking for some help and pointers on how to grow dreadlocks. First off I am african with kinky hair. Most of the sites I’ve been to seem to be for non african people with straight hair. Now I’ve kept my head shaved for a few years but I’ve been growing out my hair for about 4 months now. The problem is because my hair is kinky it compresses and stays down. If I pull it out it comes out to about 3 inches. What is the best way to grow dreadlocks for my type of hair? I was thinking of letting it grow naturally but not sure if this would work because it might stay compresses and not form locks or if it does it would be one huge dread/congo which is not what I want.

Hello it is me again!
So i was wondering about sores on the head? my head hasnt fully parted into seperate sections but basically the back half is dreaded all different sizes loops etc. on the left side of my head i have one big guy and on the underside at the root of the scalp it is red and a tad bumpy . I can not tell if this is because the dread it too big and the hair is fighting to go in different directions or maybe something else.
As I have just let my hair do its own thing besides washing.
I had preferred larger dreads from the begining so i didnt see the harm when he grew.
Also i have elminated the dandruff problem from a couple months ago.

whats wrong with flat dreads? they round out over time tho usualy
beware tho congos look cool but as they get thicker..over an inch..they can cause issues..
they dry way slower so more mold risk
they can pull unjevenly causing pain much harder to clean and care for

Hello. So im African American and im on day 4 of neglect. Im planning on getting congos and i understand the steps to getting them. My only problem is that when i wake up the side and back of my head is flat from sleeping on my afro. Will this affect my hair? How to prevent this? I dont want to seperate them because i want congos…thanks

excelent question and doesnt have a yes or no answer it does depend more on how you feel about the situation but u can try smudging them to cleanse theenergy surrounding them you can try filling them up with possitive experiences..and living in a more hormonius way
if you really cant rectify with the energies of the past then maybe starting fresh is the best

I praise the Most High for your inspiration. My question is, what if your locks formed and grew in the midst of noise, confusion, or rather a caotic situation? Should I cut them and start again when I am more at peace during my transition?
